Different organisations have different methods of managing absenteeism. Even within the same organisation different offices or plants can have very different methods for recording and monitoring absence.
This is certainly the case where the different departments are separated geographically or have historically been run as separate organisations.
Centralisation and consistency mean different departments can compare their absenteeism rates and a common set of policies may address them.
