Western Corrugated use Mitrefinch's integrated Time and Attendance, and Payroll modules
Western Corrugated, based at Springvale, Cwmbran, specialises in manufacturing corrugated sheet cardboard. The company, founded in 1984 by Keith Pritchard and Nigel Atwell, employs more than 200 people at five locations.The company decided to install the Mitrefinch Flexipay Payroll System allowing it to bring its payroll function in-house. Following on from the success of this installation, Western Corrugated specified Mitrefinch's Time & Attendance system.
Before installing Time & Attendance and Flexipay Payroll, Western Corrugated used a manual clock-card system and external payroll management company. As a result of implementing the Mitrefinch systems, the company has experienced a significant reduction in the amount of time spent on completing the wage cycle and the amount of wage queries has been considerably reduced.
Robert Eckley, Accounts Team Leader at Western Corrugated says: "We have found that the Mitrefinch systems give us better control over the payroll and more time to complete it. The systems save time as all the information you need is on the screen and not in files."
The company uses Time & Attendance daily and Flexipay Payroll weekly. All managers have access to Time & Attendance and are responsible for managing the anomalies relating to their department.
Time & Attendance features an efficient reporting tool and allows users to create their own reports in addition to the reports within the system. Robert continues: "We regularly run the featured reports such as absence and future holidays, but we have also set up a number of our own including union deduction, pension payments and overtime analysis. Time & Attendance also keeps an accurate record of holiday entitlements."

Robert adds: "Time & Attendance has improved our monitoring and recording of absences and overtime, and has helped us to comply with the Working Time Regulations.
"It was a challenge when the systems were first installed as we had not performed wages in-house before, but now, after seeing how the systems have helped us, everyone agrees it has been a huge improvement."
