Intergated access control and time and attendance for one of the UK's largest rental companies
Vanguard Rental is one of the UK’s largest car rental companies with a fleet of 35,000 vehicles and 130 branches across the country. 
Vanguard Rental uses Mitrefinch’s Time and Attendance system (TMS) to manage the time and attendance requirements of the 550 staff based at its Leicester site.
TMS is a fully computerised time and attendance system which enables companies to monitor, plan, forecast and budget employees and staffing levels with greater control, taking into account absentees, cost per employee and employee specific skill sets.
Vanguard use the system with the integrated Mitrefinch Access Control module which allows the Company to manage access giving staff different levels of access to various departments within the building.
The Access Control system allows different levels of control to be granted to, for example, security guards, facilities managers, system administrators, etc. Access Control can be tailored to prohibit or allow selected people access during various hours of the day or night. Any system specification can be accommodated including turnstiles, pedestrian gates, revolving doors and vehicle barriers.
Jason Ward, IT Support Desk Supervisor of Vanguard Rental, explains: “TMS gives us a thorough system which records working time data and provides us with the added benefit of an access control facility. We needed an unobtrusive system which would blend into our working environment and allow us to record data and restrict access to certain areas of our plant.”
Vanguard uses the integrated report writing facility to generate an audit log report highlighting who attempted to gain access at various points, who was granted access and what time of day this occurred.
Jason adds: “We did not have any systems in place before this and have found Mitrefinch’s TMS and Access Control to be an efficient way of managing access across our site. The system is easy to use, flexible and provides a wealth of management information for analysis.
